Virginie Viard Steps Down as Chanel’s Artistic Director


Virginie Viard is departing Chanel after 30 years with the fashion home, together with 5 years as artistic director.

The French luxurious trend model confirmed her exit in a press release to The Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday: “Chanel confirms the departure of Virginie Viard after a wealthy collaboration of 5 years as creative director of trend collections, throughout which she was capable of renew the codes of the home whereas respecting the artistic heritage of Chanel, and virtually 30 years inside the home.”

“A brand new artistic group might be introduced in the end,” the assertion continued. “Chanel want to thank Virginie Viard for her outstanding contribution to Chanel’s trend, creativity and vitality.”

Chanel has but to announce who might be taking up the position.

Viard first joined the style home in 1987 and labored alongside her predecessor, Karl Lagerfeld, for a number of years. Following the designer’s death in 2019, Viard was appointed artistic director.
